Boro's Brazilian set to arrive
Afonso Alves will arrive in England on Wednesday to begin his Middlesbrough career after obtaining his visa.
The Brazil international signed for Boro last week in a club record deal worth more than £12million.
He was denied his debut in the Tyne-Tees derby against Newcastle at the weekend because although he had a work permit - he did not have the basic visa to enter the United Kingdom.
Now after traveling back to Holland and attending the British embassy in Amsterdam, he has gained the appropriate paperwork.
Alves is now set to link-up with his new team-mates on Wednesday and he could very well make his Premier League debut against Fulham at the weekend.
Boro have Tuncay Sanli and Mido on their injured list and so Alves would be in line to start, after manager Gareth Southgate played just one up front against Newcastle in the shape of Jeremie Aliadiere.
