Udinese striker wants move to Premier League

Udinese striker Asamoah Gyan claims he is wanted by Manchester City as the Ghanaian seeks a move to the Premier League. Gyan recently revealed that he is keen on a transfer to England and admitted he was a boyhood Manchester United fan. But the champions' local rivals City are reportedly exploring the possibility of a £6million deal as Sven Goran Eriksson looks to boost his attack. "I'm aware that Manchester City have nearly completed negotiations with my club, so hopefully I will be playing in England next season," Gyan is quoted in The Sun. Portsmouth, who signed Gyan's compatriot Sulley Muntari from Udinese in the summer, have also been linked with a bid for the forward. Gyan joined Udinese in 2003 from Liberty Professionals and the president of his former club Alhaji Sly Tetteh has claimed the player will be leaving the Italian side. Liberty Professionals have lined up two players to replace Gyan at Udinese, although any Premier League deal could be put on hold until the end of the season with the player due to represent Ghana at the African Cup of Nations in the New Year. The pacey front man, who turns 22 on Thursday, has scored three goals in 11 appearances for Udinese this season.
