Jamie Vardy wasn’t missed by Leicester City as they got back on track against Crystal Palace, according to Niall Quinn.

City regained their domestic swagger and made it 20 Premier League games unbeaten at the King Power Stadium with a 3-1 victory over Palace.

The Premier League champions left out Vardy, who was without a goal in nine games, with Ahmed Musa slotting in on the left wing and Islam Slimani through the middle.

Vardy's replacement Musa opened the scoring and impressed with his overall performance level.

"There was no Vardy, but he wasn't missed," Quinn said.

"I think Slimani was really good today - he's not going to make any headlines but he worked so hard and was involved in the first goal. This means that the signings coming into the club are doing well. It freshens everything up and this result helps them get back on track in the Premier League."

Claudio Ranieri has had to rotate his squad much more this season in order to cope with Champions League football.

The Italian dropped Riyad Mahrez and Slimani to the bench as part of three changes in their previous league game against Chelsea and only gave Vardy 15 minutes in the victory over Palace.

Claudio Ranieri gives his reaction on his team's 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace

Sky Sports' football expert Alan Smith thinks Ranieri deserves praise for shuffling his pack.

"Ranieri will feel vindicated with his team selection," he said.

"He got a little bit of stick for leaving players out against Chelsea and he made some changes today, including leaving Vardy on the bench. But they got the result. There was an energy to Leicester's play - a bit like last season.

"When you're in the Champions League, you've got to use your squad. You need a quality squad. That's what Ranieri did in the summer by bringing in more quality."
