Big Sam: Two points dropped

Sam Allardyce felt his Newcastle side had dropped two points following the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.

Allardyce unhappy with lapse in concentration

Sam Allardyce felt his Newcastle side had dropped two points following the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough. Charles N'Zogbia's excellent opener was cancelled out by Mido, before Mark Viduka restored Newcastle's lead against his former club. But Boro hit back again through Julio Arca to secure a point and leave Allardyce disappointed with the result. He said: "We feel like we've lost. Having gone into the lead twice that should have burn enough to get a precious three points, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. "We switched off on a basic set-play. No-one took responsibility to close down Arca."

Injuries

Stephen Carr suffered an injury after just a few minutes and his replacement Peter Ramage was later stretchered off with a knee injury. Allardyce admits he may now have to venture into the transfer window to bring in a new defender. "Carr has a hamstring and Ramage is seriously injured as well," he explained. "It's a huge concern and I have to look at cover for those players next week."
