Gallardo to fight for place

PSG midfielder Marcelo Gallardo has no plans to quit the Ligue 1 giants this summer.

Paris Saint Germain's out-of-favour midfielder Marcelo Gallardo has no plans to quit the Ligue 1 giants this summer.

The Argentinian ace joined from River Plate during the January transfer window, but has found himself warming the bench of late.

Gallardo has been suffering fitness wise during his time at Parc des Princes, although he now feels in tip-top shape.

The talented midfielder penned a long-term deal upon joining PSG and sees no reason why he should not see out his contract.

"Physically I am fine, I have never been so fit since my arrival here. Now I am at my best," Gallardo told L'Equipe.

"It is not easy sitting on the bench, but I don't want to complain as on collective level we've improved. That is the most important.

"Now it is up to me to show I deserve a place in the team. I never regretted signing for PSG.

"Will I quit next summer? Don't ask me those kinds of questions. I signed for three years and I want to stay."
