Wolves join Swiss chase

Wolfsburg are set to rival Bolton for the signature of Swiss international Blerim Dzemaili.

Wolfsburg are set to rival Bolton for the signature of Swiss international starlet Blerim Dzemaili, according to reports in the German media.

The 20-year-old, who came on as a second-half substitute in Switzerland's 3-1 defeat at Germany on Wednesday, is regarded as one of his country's most promising defensive midfielders and has made no secret out of his desire to leave FC Zurich as a free agent next summer.

Dzemaili turned down the chance to extend his expiring contract with FCZ and appeared bound for Italy after starting talks with Milan, Juventus and Torino during the winter transfer window, but no deal went through.

Now according to Wolfsburger Allegmeine Zeitung, the Wolves are hoping to lure the youngster to the Volkswagen-Arena as their search for a new midfielder continues.

However, the Wolves must be prepared to face stiff competition as Bolton are also interested in the player who made his league debut for FCZ at the age of 17.

Dzemaili admitted last month that he had held talks with Bolton, who are experienced campaigners in luring talent from around the world.
