Fotheringham handed Gers trial

Mark Fotheringham has been handed the chance to win a move to Rangers.

Former Celtic midfielder Mark Fotheringham has been handed the chance to win a move to Rangers during a trial.

The 23-year-old will train with the Ibrox club in the next week hoping to impress new manager Walter Smith.

Fotheringham has quit Swiss side Aarau looking to return to his homeland, and is keen to prove he deserves a permanent stay at Rangers.

"It's a great opportunity for me and one that I'm desperate to grasp," he told the Daily Record.

"I enjoyed my time at Celtic but I would not hesitate to sign for Rangers."

Meanwhile, Rangers have been told Danish starlet Adda Djeziri will cost £125,000.

Djeziri, dubbed the next Peter Lovenkrands, impressed Gers staff during a trial last week.

The 18-year-old's current club BK Frem will not stand in the way of the youngster pursuing a switch to Scotland.

Coach Anders Theil said: "Adda wants to go abroad and if Rangers want him they will get him.

"I'd love him to stay but football is a game of opportunity and if he had the chance to go to Rangers I would be fine with that.

"I would like the best for Adda and I believe Rangers will talk to us before the end of January."
