Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is hoping to earn his first call-up to the Spain national team. The 24-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring six goals to help The Toffees in their chase for a European place.
Arteta, who has represented Spain at Under 21 level, is hopeful his recent good displays have not gone unnoticed with Luis Aragones.
"It has been my life's wish, ever since I was a child," Arteta told Marca.
"Of course, it depends on one person, Aragones, and I'm not sure if he has followed my career. But from what I hear, I may have options."
Arteta has made his mark on the Premiership after moving to Goodison Park from Real Sociedad in July 2005.
The former Rangers man believes David Moyes has played a major role in helping mould him into a consistent performer in England's top-flight.
Arteta added: "I have been given confidence by the coach.
"I train well and I am really comfortable in this team."
