Ronnie: Keane can be tops
Ronaldinho believes Roy Keane has all the makings of becoming a great coach.
Ronaldinho believes Sunderland boss Roy Keane has all the makings of becoming a great coach. The Brazilian star made the comments after seeing the former Manchester United captain take charge of The Black Cats back in late August.
The Barcelona playmaker had plenty of respect for the ex-Republic of Ireland international as a player, and feels that Keane's experiences at the top level will help him in his new career in football management.
"For me, it really wasn't a surprise that Keane wanted to become a top manager because he was such a good player," Ronaldinho told The Sun's 'Super Goals' section.
"A coach who has played at the very highest level knows what is going on in your head.
"He knows what you're going through, especially when you're going through tough moments - that really helps.
"I have played for some coaches who haven't been players and they have been good coaches. But I think it's a big help.
That current World Player of the Year player has been inspired by Keane's decision to go into management, stating he aims to move into coaching when he hangs up his boots.
"I'm not surprised about Keane, after retiring from football many great players have gone on to be coaches," Ronaldinho added.
"Many players decide they don't want to work as a coach after their career for all sorts of reasons and do other things, but I would be like Roy.
"I am the same as him because he shows so much passion and joy in his football and it means so much to him in his life.
"Once I retire, I will try to work in the same area and stay in football by being a coach."
