Napoli keep tabs on Cassano

Napoli have trained their sights on Real Madrid's Antonio Cassano.

Napoli have trained their sights on Antonio Cassano, with the former Serie A champions planning a summer raid on Real Madrid should they secure promotion back to the top flight.

The Naples club have been in the doldrums for some time, but they are mounting a push for promotion in Serie B and are looking even further ahead.

A return to Serie A would demand a squad overhaul and they have earmarked Cassano as a man to spark their revival.

"It's true, Cassano could go to Napoli in June if they gain promotion," Real Madrid transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti told QN.

Gifted forward Cassano only moved to Real Madrid from Roma in January, but he has so far failed to set the world alight in the Spanish capital.

The summer arrival of Italian coach Fabio Capello could revive his career, but Napoli are monitoring the developments with interest.
