Beagrie leaves Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe United have severed their ties with veteran winger Peter Beagrie.

Scunthorpe United have severed their ties with veteran winger Peter Beagrie.

Iron boss Brian Laws had been waiting for the 40-year-old to make a decision on the offer of a new 12-month contract.

But, when Beagrie failed to report for the start of pre-season training on Thursday, Laws confirmed the player would no longer be with the League One side.

"We've decided to draw a line under Peter's involvement with Scunthorpe United," Laws told the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.

"Peter has got his TV work and the football has become more of a part-time role for him which is not suitable for what we want.

"It's a sad day for the club."

The vastly experienced wide man moved to Glanford Park from Bradford City five years ago and scored 37 goals in 199 appearances for Scunthorpe.
