English duo monitor Celta star

Arsenal and Liverpool are both reportedly chasing Celta Vigo starlet Borja Oubina.

Reports in Spain are claiming both Arsenal and Liverpool are chasing Celta Vigo starlet Borja Oubina.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine campaign for resurgent Celta who have already secured European football for next season.

The Galician outfit returned to La Primera this term after relegation but have proved one of the surprise packages and can finish no worse than sixth.

One of the reasons behind their excellent form has been the consistent displays of Oubina who has been a virtual ever-present in the team's engine-room.

A fine passer, Oubina - who came through the youth ranks at Celta - has won international recognition this season having been called up by Spain boss Luis Aragones.

Although he missed out on selection for Spain's provisional World Cup squad, he is widely regarded as one of the country's most talented youngsters and has no shortage of admirers in La Liga with Valencia, Real and Atletico Madrid all monitoring his progress.

However, his fan-club extends to England with Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger having been highly impressed by his progress.

Wenger has already exploited the Spanish market to great effect with the purchases of Cesc Fabregas and Jose Antonio Reyes, while Benitez is always looking to cream off the best available talent from a league he knows intimately.

However, while both coaches would love to prise Oubina away from the Balaidos, Celta have no plans to let one of their most influential and promising players leave.

"Borja Oubina is simply not for sale," Celta president Horacio Gomez recently stated when quizzed on the reported interest in the player.
