Robert Pires has admitted it was a strange feeling to leave the field at Highbury for the final time.Arsenal will head to a new stadium at Ashburton Grove next season, with the Premiership encounter against Wigan on Sunday bringing the curtain down on Arsenal's famous home.
The Gunners provided Highbury with the perfect send off as they claimed a 4-2 win to clinch fourth spot in The Premiership and Pires admits the players were determined to put on a bold show.
"For the last game at Highbury, we had to end with a flourish," Pires told L'Equipe. "We knew the Tottenham result with the fans' shouts.
"To finish the way we did was very moving.
"I think about some of the fans who only knew Highbury for 30 years. Them, they are loyal to their club. Us, we are just passing through.
"At the beginning, I believe it will hurt them to go to that new stadium."
