Cacapa: Derby is a must win

Lyon captain Claudio Cacapa believes great sides do not lose two games running.

Lyon's captain Claudio Cacapa believes his side will prove they are a great team by bouncing back from defeat with a win in the derby.

With just three games remaining in Ligue One, Lyon are already champions, but they have received criticism for their lacklustre 2-1 defeat at Monaco.

Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas wants to see a response from his side in their forthcoming Stade Gerland derby against St Etienne.

And Brazilian defender Cacapa says there will be a successful response on the pitch.

"I don't need anybody to motivate me for the derby, it is so important for the fans," Cacapa told Le Progres.

"It is going to be a great match.

"We want to please our fans, so we will win.

"Playing at home will be an advantage, but St Etienne really want to win this match as well and they have the talent to do it.

"The coach says that great teams never lose two games on the trot and he is right," he said.

The 29-year-old's team are 32 points ahead of St Etienne, who are 12th in the table.
