Shearer: No United regrets

Alan Shearer says he has no regrets over his decision to snub Manchester United.

Alan Shearer says he has no regrets over his decision to snub Manchester United.

The Newcastle United legend was twice offered the chance of a move to Old Trafford but turned it down on both occasions.

Sir Alex Ferguson initially approached him before he opted for a switch to Blackburn, then he missed out once again when Shearer joined The Magpies.

Now he is set to make his last appearance at the Theatre of Dreams before he hangs up his playing boots at the end of the season.

And he says that although he was tempted by a switch to The Red Devils, he is quite happy that he made the right decision in turning them down.

"Of course I was tempted to join Manchester United, but I do not regret either decision," he told The Sun.

‚Ç£I had a magical time at Blackburn, winning the league. And I completed my own dream of playing for my home town club of Newcastle.

‚Ç£I have memories I will hold forever and a goalscoring record that makes me extremely proud."

He also said that he has no problems with Ferguson, adding: "Come the final whistle on Sunday I will shake Alex Ferguson's hand. He is a man you cannot help but admire for what he has achieved in the game."
