Sereni unsettled at Biancocelesti

Lazio look to have become embroiled in a contract row with goalkeeper Matteo Sereni.

Lazio look to have become embroiled in another contract row after goalkeeper Matteo Sereni was reportedly dropped from the squad for refusing to sign a new deal.

The capital club have recently come under fire from defender Aparecido Cesar for their approach to renewing his own contract, and Sereni has now reputedly been dropped from the first team picture for his refusal to accept reduced terms.

The former Ipswich man was not included in the squad for Sunday's 4-1 win over Ascoli despite recovering from a muscular problem, and despite the club's insistence that his absence was a technical concern, reports in Italy suggest otherwise.

Sereni is believed to be aggrieved at president Claudio Lotito's offer of a new deal that would have cut his ‚é¼1.2 million salary by more than 50 percent, and refused to put pen-to-paper.

As a result it is believed he was shunned from the squad and it remains to be seen whether an exit is forthcoming in the January transfer window.
