Larsson to leave Barca

Henrik Larsson has confirmed he will quit Barcelona to return to Sweden.

Henrik Larsson has confirmed he will quit Barcelona to return to Sweden at the end of the season.

The veteran striker's future has been up for discussion of late, with his contract at Barca expiring next summer.

Larsson initially dismissed claims that he would leave the Spanish champions after he was linked with a return to former club Helsingborgs.

But the Celtic legend has now decided the twilight of his career will be best served by heading back to Sweden when his contract at Camp Nou runs out.

"The decision has evolved during the season," Larsson told Helsingborgs Dagblad.

"It is obvious that it might have been different if I had got more playing time, but it is not the main reason I have rejected the offer from Barcelona."

Helsingborgs have already expressed an interest in signing the 34-year-old, who has been unable to dislodge Samuel Eto'o in the Barcelona side.

Though Larsson is aware of his home-town club's interest, he is refusing to commit himself to a move to Helsingborgs.

He added: "It is not impossible, but I won't promise anything at the moment.

"I will consider the offers I get at a later stage.

"Right now, I am just concentrating on a good ending with Barcelona. I will fight for a place in the side."
