Big Dunc could quit

David Moyes has revealed that Duncan Ferguson could quit football next month.

Everton manager David Moyes has revealed that Duncan Ferguson could quit football next month.

The veteran Scottish striker is toiling in his current battle to get back to full fitness, after recent hamstring and hip injuries.

Now Moyes has admitted that the former Rangers and Newcastle United man could walk away from the game in January.

"Duncan's struggling at the moment and he's considering his future," said Moyes.

"He will make a decision in January and it's possible that he will finish for good then.

"He's found it very hard over the last month. His legs are sore and he's found it difficult when he's come on as a substitute in games.

"He doesn't feel that he can make as big an impact as he once did and he doesn't want to let me, the supporters, or himself down.

"He doesn't enjoy not being able to make an impact. He's a bit down about it, but I've been speaking to him regularly.

"It shows the character of the man that he told me about it and I give him credit for that.

"He was very open about things and very honest.

"I've told him to see how things go over the next couple of weeks because we still need him to play, if he can."
