Adam Virgo has revealed his delight at making the move to Celtic in the summer. The defender has barely featured for The Bhoys since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion, but is more than happy with his decision to switch to Parkhead.
"The manager is keeping me motivated. I've got good friends and team-mates who say I'm doing well, so I have the belief and will have to be patient," he told the Daily Record.
"If the manager started making changes, then people would start asking questions about him. I'm raring to go and eager to play, so I can't wait.
"When I play, all I want to do is improve as a player."
The 22-year-old is unlikely to play in the clash against Rangers on Saturday, but is sure to be inspired by the occasion.
"One of the reasons I came here was to play in Old Firm games and it's another motivation for me to get my head down and try to become involved in these games," Virgo enthused.
"When a new player arrives, the ones already here have to up their performances to keep the new face out and unfortunately, that's what they have done."
But Virgo will be optimistic of following in Stephen McManus's footsteps after the defender recently ended years of frustration by securing a regular place in the team.
"Stephen's a good friend of mine and we've spoken about his frustrations over the last few seasons of playing a few games here and there," Virgo said.
"He knew this season was a fantastic opportunity to get the centre back slot and I think he's been our most consistent player along with Stilian Petrov."
