Carlisle swoop for Bridges

Carlisle United have signed Michael Bridges from Bristol City.

Carlisle United have signed Michael Bridges from Bristol City.

The 27-year-old joined The Robins in the summer but has failed to make the expected impact at Ashton Gate - scoring just once in 13 appearances.

Bridges saw a move to Darlington fail to materialise earlier this month, but now Carlisle have swooped for the former Leeds striker.

Bridges has moved to Brunton Park on loan until the end of December, after which point Carlisle will decide whether to pursue him on a permanent basis.

"He's a player that I actually tried to sign in the summer when I heard he was available but Bristol City got him," Carlisle boss Paul Simpson told the club's website.

"We are delighted to be able to bring him here now as he is a very experienced player who can change any game.

"We're looking forward to working with him and I know he's looking forward to getting down to business with us."
