Evra set to stay
Patrice Evra looks set to remain at Monaco for one more season.
In-demand Monaco full back Patrice Evra looks set to remain at The Stade Louis II for one more season. The 24-year-old star is seen as one of the most capable left sided defenders in Europe and the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus, Milan, Internazionale, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all made enquiries.
Evra himself had been expecting a move this summer, but it seems that Monaco want at least one more season out of the French international.
The player's agent Federico Pastorello admitted that Liverpool made an offer in May - as reported on skysports.com.
However, Monaco were not keen on the cash plus players' offer.
"Liverpool made an offer, but the Englishmen wanted a swap deal with some players and Monaco was not interested.
"Since then, nothing has moved.
"The same clubs named for a while are still following the case, but none of them takes any position.
"Didier Deschamps wants to keep Patrice and as Monaco will not negotiate under é¼13 or é¼14 million, it doesn't help."
Meanwhile, Monaco are believed to have ended their interest in Italian international Mauro Esposito.
The Cagliari midfielder is keen to stay, although the likely asking price of over é¼10 million is the main reason Monaco have backed off.
