Lyn: No issue with Mikel deal
Lyn Oslo insist no malpractice occurred in Man Utd's capture of John Obi Mikel.
Lyn Oslo insist no malpractice occurred in Manchester United's capture of Nigerian starlet John Obi Mikel. The teenage ace signed a deal with The Red Devils last month but his commitment to United has reportedly angered Chelsea.
The Premiership champions had been long-standing suitors of Mikel, with the 18-year-old having trained with The Blues earlier this season.
Mikel had suggested in January that he had already struck an accord with Chelsea but the deal could not be ratified as he had not turned 18.
Reports in the News of the World on Sunday claimed that Chelsea were ready to challenge United's signing of Mikel as they believed they already had an agreement in place.
But Lyn have reacted to the reports by affirming there was nothing signed with The Blues, prior to their deal with United.
"We have followed the rules but have got to live with the rumours," Lyn director Morgan Andersen told NTB.
"Lyn Oslo are satisfied to just play football and know we have got things in order. United have also done that.
"I haven't heard anything about this. But they are not known to be a serious paper."
