Kleberson deal edging closer

Kleberson has reopened talks with Corinthians about a move back to Brazil.

Kleberson's agent has confirmed that the Manchester United star has reopened talks with Corinthians.

It was reported late last week that a proposed move back to Brazil for Kleberson was off, but as skysports.com and leading sources in South American stated - the deal was never dead.

Now Marcos Antonio e Silva - the player's father-in-law and agent - has revealed that talks have taken place again and a deal is close.

Corinthians are keen to seal a deal, but they are busy trying to seal a number of transfers - including Javier Mascherano, Gustavo Nery and Roger.

"We are still lacking small details, but Kleberson is close to agreeing things," Antonio e Silva told Gazeta Esportiva.

"The things lacking are small things like the length of contract and the form of payment."

Corinthians' vice president Andres Sanchez had stated that a deal was already in place with United, but Antonio e Silva insists this is not the case.

"While there is no agreement with Manchester, we cannot take the negotiations further," he said.

"Andres has said that it was certain, but I don't know where he got his information from, and I don't want to create controversy. It could all me made right today or tomorrow."

Despite Antonio e Silva's worries - it is thought that MSI - the sports investment group that currently controls Corinthians - will thrash out a deal with United in the near future.

MSI are currently very busy negotiating a host of deals for Corinthians, with the Mascherano's transfer from River Plate their priority at this moment.

The Argentine starlet, though, is on the brink of sealing his move to Brazil and MSI chief Kia Joorabchian confirmed a deal was imminent.

"There is total agreement with River and the player for having Mascherano in Corinthians," he said.

"The only detail that has to be resolved is if the player will arrive in the next few days or in July once the Copa Libertadores ends."

Corinthians coach Tite admitted he was delighted at the prospect of landing the highly rated midfielder.

"Mascherano is a great player," he said.

"He knows what a central midfielder has to do on a pitch, but he is not just defensive, he also knows how to attack because he comes from River and they as a team always attack."

The reported fee for Mascherano is $15 million - all of which will be funded by MSI, as they recently did for the deals involving Carlos Alberto and Carlos Tevez.

The deals for Nery and Roger are also ongoing, although the Werder Bremen star is closer to sealing his move than the Benfica ace.
