Atletico want Perea stay
Atletico Madrid have opened contract talks with Luis Amaranto Perea.
Atletico Madrid will attempt to stave off interest in Luis Amaranto Perea by handing the player a new deal.Atletico are aware that the Colombian defender's form this year is attracting interest from other clubs.
Indeed sides from England and elsewhere in Spain are believed to be eyeing the 25-year-old, who is keen to be handed a new contract for his efforts.
"I am happy in Madrid but I want to get a better wage," said Perea.
"I believe that my work on the field has been very good."
Perea is currently contracted to Atletico until June 2008 - but a renewed contract is expected to add another two years to that as well as a substantial pay hike.
