Thomas Gravesen played down the importance of his first goal for Real Madrid.
Thomas Gravesen played down the importance of his goal in Real Madrid's 4-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday, but admitted it was great to get off the mark. The Danish international came off the bench to net Madrid's final goal in game and revealed that the other players were pleased that he broken his scoring duck for the club.
"I am delighted to have scored and to have done so in the Bernabeu in front of all our fans," he said.
"To score a goal for Real Madrid fills me with pride and I want to devote it to all the supporters.
"But the most important thing is that we have won. I had a fantastic night and I think all my team-mates were more pleased with my goal than I was."
Gravesen also explained that he is just happy to be a Real Madrid player and that he does not mind being named as a substitute.
"It is nothing. I do not consider myself to be a starter in every game and one needs to remember that we are all pulling in the same direction," he continued.
"I do not get angry being on the bench. What is important is the team and to ensure that we win and reach our targets."
