Torino snap up Marinelli
Torino have captured former Middlesbrough playmaker Carlos Marinelli
Former Middlesbrough playmaker Carlos Marinelli has signed a six-month deal with Serie B title challengers Torino. This latest move represents a return to the Turin club for Marinelli, following a loan spell while at Boro in 2003.
The 22-year-old had an unfruitful time with Granata during his previous stay, but is hopeful that this new opportunity will be more successful.
"I'm really happy to be back in Torino," said the Argentinian youngster.
"Playing in Italy is still the best option for a player. I'm here to help my team-mates get Torino back into Serie A."
Marinelli was unable to replicate the form in the North East that saw him move from Boca Juniors for £1.5 million as a 17-year-old in 1999, and will be looking to resurrect his career in Italy.
If he proves himself in Serie B then Torino have an option to extend his contract by another two years in June.
