Michael Owen has backed Arsenal striker Thierry Henry to win the Ballon d'Or.
Former European Footballer of the Year, Michael Owen, has backed Arsenal striker Thierry Henry to win the 2004 award.Owen picked up the prestigious Ballon d'Or in 2001 after helping Liverpool to pocket five pieces of silverware in the calendar year.
The Real Madrid forward has now run the rule over this year's candidates for the honour and has picked out Henry as the likely winner of the prize.
Henry has been the driving force for Arsenal over the past 18 months and is vying for the Ballon d'Or with the likes of Ronaldinho, Andrei Shevchenko and Deco.
The French ace has had his claims to be named Europe's best lauded by Owen, who feels Henry has no competition for the award.
"There is no doubt for me, Henry deserves the Ballon d'Or," Owen told L'Equipe.
"He is an exceptional striker who has enjoyed a wonderful season.
"He is the best."
