Manuel Rui Costa has admitted that he received several offers to leave Milan.
Milan midfielder Manuel Rui Costa has admitted that he received several offers to leave the club this summer. The former Portuguese international was linked with a move to old club Fiorentina and Manchester United, but Rui Costa has pledged his future to Milan insisting he has no plans to leave.
"There were some offers but the thing that made me most happy was Milan rejecting them all outright, not even sitting down to discuss figures," said Rui Costa.
"This is why I never spoke to any representatives from other clubs and even Fiorentina never contacted me directly.
"On Manchester United I was aware of the news from all the Portuguese newspapers, but Milan told me they wanted me for next season."
Rui Costa could start the season with Andrea Pirlo away on Olympic duty with Italy and the midfielder admitted he will do his best for the team wherever he plays.
"I am not putting myself forward for any particular positions, as that is for the coach to decide," added Rui Costa.
"I want to help out the team in any way that I can, even from the bench, but if I'm in a position to visualise the players in front of me, then I would certainly not be unhappy with that."
