Schalke sign Lincoln

Schalke have signed Brazilian midfielder Lincoln from Bundesliga rivals Kaiserslautern in return for fringe player Jochen Seitz.

The two clubs agreed the deal on Wednesday with Lincoln signing a four-year deal at the Arena AufSchalke and Seitz receiving a two-year contract at the Betzenberg Stadion.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is still in his homeland recovering from a muscular injury which limited him to just six Bundesliga appearances last term.

But Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer is confident that Lincoln is a player capable of giving the Royal Blues a more potent attack next season.

"If he can get back to where he was before his injury then we've signed a very good footballer," said Assauer.

"We are confident that he will find his form."

Seitz, who failed to establish himself at Schalke after moving from Stuttgart, was released from his contract at the Royal Blues to enable the move to Lautern.
