Derby 2 Millwall 0

Derby County ensured that they will be in Division One next season with a fine 2-0 victory against Millwall - which also ended The Lions' play-off hopes.

The Rams suffered defeat at Turf Moor against Burnley last week, but with results going their way, knew that victory at Pride Park would guarantee their First Division survival.

Captain Ian Taylor had already missed a controversial penalty to the dismay of the home fans - failing to beat Millwall keeper Andy Marshall from the spot after Robbie Ryan had harshly been adjudged to have fouled Paul Peschisolido in the box.

However, the crowd were back on their feet when Adam Bolder scored a wonderful opener, stealing the ball and smashing home a dipping drive that left Marshall clutching at space.

The second half saw Derby dominate before finally grabbing a second against a Millwall side that looked more focused on their forthcoming FA Cup final than the matter at hand.

It was Marco Reich that doubled the advantage - curling a superb free kick beyond Marshall and into the back of the net.

Derby can now relax on the final day in the knowledge that they cannot be caught by Walsall in the bottom three.
