Hull sign Villa keeper

Hull City have fended off competition from Stockport County to complete the signing of Aston Villa keeper Boaz Myhill.

The Third Division promotion hopefuls have forked out £50,000 to lure the former England Under-20 international to The Kingston Communications Stadium.

Myhill had been on loan at Stockport for the past three weeks and Sammy McIlroy was keen to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis.

But they have been beaten to the youngster's signature by Hull after Myhill had decided it was time to quit Villa Park in search of regular first-team football.

The American-born shot-stopper has agreed a two-year contract with The Tigers and wrapped up his move after passing a medical on Thursday afternoon.
