Pizarro slams Bayern system
Claudio Pizarro has upset the mood in the Bayern Munich camp ahead of the trip to Schalke 04 by criticising Ottmar Hitzfeld's tactics.
The Peruvian striker believes that his team-mates are focusing too much on new signing Roy Makaay, who joined Bayern for a club record fee of almost ‚é¼19 million from Deportivo La Coruna.
Pizarro claims that Makaay's arrival at the Olympic Stadium has coincided with a departure in the team's tried-and-trusted tactics, in preference to playing solely for Makaay.
‚Ç£Maybe that's the problem. We play too much for Roy and not for the team,‚Ç¥ criticised Pizarro, who has lost his first team status to Europe's Golden Boot winner and is now forced to compete with Roque Santa Cruz for the second striker job in Hitzfeld's tactical system.
"We should return to the times when we played each game as a team. Actually, each Bayern player tried to do their own football and don't play for the team."
Pizarro, who has scored five goals compared to Makaay's ten this term, was fined ‚é¼10,000 last season for similar criticism and is unlikely to escape financial punishment by the club this time.
