Anelka rules out France return

Nicolas Anelka has ruled out a return to club football in his native France but does not discount an international comeback with Les Bleus.

The Manchester City striker's second spell with Paris Saint Germain proved a torrid experience for Anelka as he was continually at odds with coach Luis Fernandez.

Anelka left Parc des Princes for Liverpool in December 2001 on a loan basis before completing a £13 million move to City in the summer of 2002.

His time back at his first club tainted Anelka's perception of Le Championnat and the 24-year-old has dismissed any notion of a return to the French league.

"No, it's impossible (to go back)," vowed Anelka. "When I returned the last time, I saw the reception that was given to me.

"My experience with PSG does not justify me returning at all. It was hard to live there especially as I had played all my childhood in France and that was in front of my public.

"No, I do not think that I would return."

However, Anelka admits he will contemplate ending his self-imposed international exile before he ultimately calls time on his career.

Anelka does not wish to be considered for Les Bleus at present after a bust-up with coach Jacques Santini but he is prepared to turn out for his country in the future.

He continued: "Everything's possible. Why not? The door is not closed but it's not going to happen just now.

"I know the French crowd and it's not easy to feel supported. That's the big difference with English crowds, they cheer you whatever happens."
