United seal Kleberson deal

MANCHESTER UNITED have completed the signing of Brazilian international Kleberson on a five-year deal.

The 24-year-old arrived in England last month for his move to Old Trafford but the deal had been in jeopardy due to his application for a work permit.

It was thought that he may struggle to satisfy the criteria set by the Home Office for handing out permits, but these fears were allayed on Monday.

After finalising his medical, Kleberson has now become the first Brazilian to wear the red shirt of United, an honour that was due to go to Ronaldinho.

The move comes hot on the heels of Sir Alex Ferguson wrapping up the capture of Portuguese starlet Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon.

Kleberson will cost United around £5.9 million, which includes his personal package, from Brazilian outfit Atletico Paranaense.

Klerberson was delighted to have sealed his move to the Premiership champions, stating: "To be the first Brazilian to sign for United is special.

"This is the biggest opportunity of my life. I had offers from other clubs but they weren't Manchester United.

"What I promise the fans is to give my all on the pitch from the outset."
