The Fenerbahce captain looks to have finally made a decision regarding his future, after being torn between remaining in Istanbul or plying his trade abroad.
The keeper is one of the most attractive Bosman free agents this summer, following an outstanding World Cup last year, and had been targeted by both Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Wenger was believed to be leading the chase for Rustu's signature, but the Turkish number one has now stressed he will join Barca, regardless of whether Joan Laporta is elected president or not.
Laporta, the man who has promised to bring David Beckham to Camp Nou, has also revealed there is an agreement in place with Rustu.
"I have still not signed anything official," Rustu told Vatan.
"But I believe that I will do this in two weeks.
"Even if Laporta is not elected, I think that I will transfer to Catalunya."
The 30-year-old would be an impressive signing for Barca, who are still struggling to earn a place in Europe next season.
