Danish coach wants Jensen to quit Valley
The 25-year-old has been at The Valley for three years, scoring 12 goals in 92 Premiership appearances, but Olsen feels the former Bolton man should be at a club challenging for honours.
He told Danish newspaper BT: "Claus should change club to get to play European football and to fight for one of the top five or six places in the Championship every year.
"He should be playing under bigger pressure than he is doing now at Charlton, who are pleased to survive in the top flight."
The coach believes that Jensen will not reach his full potential with the London club and admits that he has made his feelings clear to the player.
He added: "Of course I have talked to him about it but it's not me who decides.
"Claus is a player who has had big success with the national team as a substitute but we would very much like him to become an important starter for the national team.
"That is not to disrespect Charlton, but that requires him to change club."
Jensen, who has 21 Denmark caps to his name, remains committed to the Charlton cause but would not rule out a move away from The Valley at some stage of his career.
He said: "I try to do well where I am now and then I hope an offer will come at some point.
"Everyone would surely want to fight for the title but it is not that easy to get a chance.
"It is during the matches and training that you should show what you are worth."
