Injury woe for Viana
The midfielder missed a large chunk of the season after picking up an injury in December that required surgery.
The Portuguese ace returned to fitness in February and was looking to put his problems behind him in the final weeks of the season.
However, all plans are on hold after he was forced off in the 38th-minute of Portugal`s Under-21 clash with England.
Viana went up for an aerial challenge with David Prutton and landed awkwardly.
He immediately clutched his shoulder and was led to the dressing room in obvious discomfort.
Viana`s shoulder was put back in place, but it popped out again and he was rushed to hospital.
X-rays confirmed no break, but he is now a major doubt for the remaining games of the season.
Magpies boss Sir Bobby Robson was at the game and he was not happy, saying: "I am angered by this.
"He suffered a bad fall and his shoulder came out. They put it back in again, but then it popped out again in the dressing room when I went down to see him.
"He went to hospital for the X-ray and although there's no break he's now going to be out for a while.
"They reckon if it settles down he might be able to play in two weeks, but if it's going to keep coming out then he may have to require further surgery.
"It's a shame for him. With the run in we might have lost a good player."
