Valerenga head Berg hunt

VALERENGA have now claimed that they are favourites to get Henning Berg when he returns to Norway at the end of the season.

Club director Kjetil Siem has been in a meeting with the 33-year-old Blackburn defender, but Berg will not make a decision before Norway have made a further step towards Euro 2004.

"I will decide myself after the games against Denmark and Romania in June," Berg told VG.

Siem has already declared that Berg can keep his fitness levels high playing for Valerenga.

"We had a meeting with Henning in England back in February," explained Siem.

In the Oslo club Berg will only earn a fraction of what he earns now.

"It's difficult to say whether he comes to us. He must go down a lot in wages. Henning is perhaps not aware of how bad Norwegian clubs are economically."

Berg has not made a definite decision as yet and has also kept the door open for Lillestrom, Stabaek and Lyn.

"I have talked with Valerenga, but that was very informal. The only thing I know for sure is that I will move back to Norway in the summer," added the former Manchester United man.
