'Positive' Kirkland to see Steadman
The young custodian saw his season come to an abrupt end when suffering serious ligament damage during a clash with Dele Adebola in an FA Cup clash with Crystal Palace last month.
A decision has yet to be taken on whether Kirkland will undergo surgery, but more will be known after the former Coventry man visits Steadman in Colorado over the weekend.
Kirkland said: "I'm going to Colorado on Sunday with our physio Mark Browes to see Dr Steadman. He will have a look at my knee and decide if I need an operation. It all depends on the extent of the damage and I'm just waiting to see what he says."
The keeper now claims he is free from pain, but knows there is a long road ahead before he can embark on reclaiming his starting place.
He told the club`s website: "The pain has gone away now. I have a slight tear in my medial ligament as well and that is quite sore. I've got my leg in a brace at the moment and I have to keep it straight, but the staff have told me the pain will come back when I can start bending it again. It doesn't feel too bad at the moment though.
"It really hit home to me on the Tuesday just how bad the injury was. But now I'm focused again and with the help of the club, my team-mates and my family I'm sure I'll be coming back stronger and fitter next season.
"I'm positive I'll be back for the start of next season. Dr Steadman is the best in the world so I know I'm going to be in the best possible hands.
"He's treated Ronaldo, Alan Shearer, Patrik Berger and Jamie Redknapp in the past and helped them overcome bad knee injuries.
"I have every confidence in the people who will be looking after me both here at Liverpool and in America."
