Gillespie`s Rangers revelation
The Ulsterman had a trial at Ibrox when Graeme Souness, now his current boss at Ewood Park, was in charge of the Glasgow giants, but instead ended up at Manchester United.
After working his way back into Souness's plans, the tricky winger will be hoping to knock Celtic, who won the first leg 1-0 with a late Henrik Larsson strike, out of the competition, particularly due to the fact that he used to be a Gers follower.
"Growing up in Northern Ireland, you were either Rangers or Celtic," he told Rovers' official website.
"As a teenager, I sometimes went to watch Rangers when Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant were the big heroes.
"Like I say, in our society, you grow up with the Old Firm, but I'm not much of a fan now.
"I could have signed for them, ironically enough when Graeme Souness was still manager, although he didn't have much to do with the youth side of things at that time.
"However, my other option was Manchester United and I decided that Old Trafford was the place for me."
