Campo concentrating on Real
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside arrived in Madrid on Thursday to try and finalise a deal with club and player.
There is no real obstacle with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit as sports director Jorge Valdano is hopeful of off-loading Campo, who is out of contract next season, but persuading the player to leave could be a problem.
Campo is currently earning around £750,000-a-season with Real and Bolton are ready to double his salary with the hope of persuading the player to make the move to England.
However, the Spanish international is not thought to be keen on a move away from his homeland and Bolton look to have a difficult task on their hands to try and persuade him to move to The Reebok.
"I am concentrating on pre-season," said Campo when asked about Bolton's interest.
"I am dedicating myself to training, you will have to talk to Real Madrid's chief, but I do not want to say anything."
Gartside will meet with the player's agent today and hope that the package on offer will be good enough to seal a deal for a player manager Sam Allardyce rates very highly.
"If it's going to be done it will be done or agreed by the end of the week," said the Bolton chief.
"Then he (Campo) will need to come over next week for a medical, which I hope is the case because he is a player I would like to bring to the football club.
"But there is still a long way to go before we can say we will definitely get him."
