Pompey sign Howe

BOURNEMOUTH defender Eddie Howe has completed his move to Portsmouth and signed a three-year contract at the club for a fee of £400,000.

The 24-year-old passed the club medical and has completed the deal before the transfer day deadline.

Howe is regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in the second division and should be a valuable asset for Pompey.

Manager Harry Redknapp had planned to swoop for the starlet in the close season, but decided to make an early move following the sale of Peter Crouch to Aston Villa for £5 million.

Howe made a total of 208 league and cup appearances for The Cherries during his stay at Dean Court.
