Rowson blow for Stoke

STOKE CITY midfielder David Rowson has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his foot during Saturday's win over Peterborough.

The 26-year-old has become the third Stoke player this season to break a bone in his foot, and joins Peter Handyside in the treatment room, who is still recovering from a broken toe.

"The bad news is that David has fractured his fifth metatarsal and it looks like he's going to be out for four to six weeks, which means the end of his season," said assistant physio Chris Moseley.

The news will be a huge blow for manager Gudjon Thordarson as he wants to keep his squad fit for the crucial end to the season.

Thordarson will now be without Rowson for what looks likely to be the play-offs for Stoke, who currently sit in fourth place in Division Two, six points off an automatic promotion place.

The former Aberdeen ace has impressed since moving to The Britannia Stadium and had attracted the interest of SPL side Dundee United.
