Darlo trial Turkish stopper
DARLINGTON have taken Sunderland defender Baki Mercimek on trial.
The 19-year-old central defender played in The Quakers reserve team game against Torquay on Wednesday evening.
The Turk only arrived at Sunderland in the summer on a five-year contract from Dutch side Haarlem.
However, he has struggled to make the expected impact and the youth international is seemingly surplus to Peter Reid's requirements.
Meanwhile, Darlington boss Tommy Taylor is continuing to chase Leyton Orient's Iyseden Christie.
Planetfootball revealed last week that Taylor had made a loan offer and now he is just hoping that Christie will agree to move to the North East on a temporary deal.
