Di Canio: Hammers don't want me
The former Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday ace admitted that the club are looking to offload him in a bid to bolster the squad elsewhere.
The Italian's proposed move to Old Trafford now seems dead in the water, but di Canio has questioned the club's desire to keep him at Upton Park.
"I know West Ham desperately want me to leave the club," said di Canio. "They want to sell me to bring money into the club, maybe to buy other players."
Meanwhile, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Feguson could dump Dwight Yorke in the reserves after he rejected a move away from Old Trafford.
Ferguson is furious that the former Aston Villa man turned down a switch to Middlesbrough thereby scuppering his plans to sign mercurial Italian striker di Canio from The Hammers.
United were not willing to push through a deal for the Italian while Yorke was still at the club.
The 30-year-old rejected the chance to move to The Riverside, after a £6.2 million deal was agreed by the two clubs, in favour of seeing out his contract at Old Trafford.
The Trinidad and Tobago star, who has 18 months to run on his current deal, is hopeful that he can secure his future at the club by proving himself to the new boss when Ferguson steps down at the end of the season.
Ferguson is now reported to be ready to retaliate against Yorke by placing him in the reserves and forcing him to train with the youth team for the rest of his managerial career at Old Trafford.
