DORTMUND MOVE FOR KEHL

THE never-ending saga regarding the future of Freiburg's German international midfielder Sebastian Kehl has taken another surprising turn just two days after Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness claimed he had got his man.

Borussia Dortmund's Michael Meier, has announced that his club have not given up hope of snapping the talented 21-year old from under the Bavarians' noses.

"We want Kehl and have not yet given up the fight", said the BVB-general manager,.

"We know it's not easy taking on Bayern Munich in the transfer market, but we have the more convincing sporting arguments."

Dortmund coach Matthias Sammer would be able to play Kehl in his favourite position just in front of the defence, whereas the strength of Bayern Munich's squad means nobody has a guaranteed first team slot.

The European champions reacted to Meier's claims immediately with vice-president Karl-Heinz Rumenigge telling BVB to give up the chase.

"I find it strange that Dortmund aren't willing to accept our deal with Kehl," said the former German international.

Kehl himself has let it be known that he will make a decision on his future during the upcoming winter break.
