The Supersport midfielder impressed Gulls boss Roy McFarland during a trial in South Devon and the club have managed to lure him to the English Riviera on a three-month loan deal.
"Anton interests me as a player, there is something about his game that I think can benefit us," McFarland told the club's official website.
"The problem is that, as a South African player, I've not had the chance to see him before and of course he has no playing history over here. The loan period will allow me to assess him in match situations before we make a final commitment"
The Gulls have also agreed a deal with former Chesterfield defender Stephen Woods, who has signed on a non-contract basis.
Meanwhile, the club are continuing negotiations with Cambridge defender Martin McNeil.
