PARERA - RIVALDO PROBLEMS SOLVED

BARCELONA'S director of football Anton Parera has moved to smooth over claims made by Rivaldo over his wage increase being denied, claiming the entire scenario was a 'misunderstanding'.

Parera was at pains to point out that the problems Rivaldo had with the club had been sorted out.

The azulgrana president, Joan Gaspart met with the Brazilian's representatives and agreed to meet all the demands of the player.

The club denied that Rivaldo would be leaving anytime soon after a meeting between Gaspart, Carlos Lage and the player himself.

News that Rivaldo was threatening not to turn up for pre-season games appear to have been wide of the mark, and in any case, is not an issue now all the issues have been cleared up.

Parera claimed that Rivaldo will now meet up with his colleagues on Friday, saying: "I have spoken with the player.

"Rivaldo is intransferable, he is an important player, one of the most important in the world.  Have we sold him?  I have already answered the question."

Parera was reacting to claims made by Rivaldo on his personal website, where he issued a letter to the club claiming various promises had not been kept.

The Brazilian star confirmed on his official website that the problem had now been resolved after talking  to Gaspart."Barcelona president Joan Gaspart has sorted out this situation," said Rivaldo on his official website.
