MANCINI LOOKING AT LAZIO PAIR

FIORENTINA coach Roberto Mancini is likely to return to Lazio for his first two signings when the Italian transfer market re-opens at the end of the season.

Dejan Stankovic and Simone Inzaghi are the two players which interest Mancini. The two Lazio aces remain on the fringes of Dino Zoff's first-team, a situation which Stankovic has publicly admitted he is not willing to endure for much longer and one which Mancini it seems is prepared to exploit to land his men.

‚Ç£I like Stankovic a lot,‚Ç¥ said Mancini to Calcioparlato.  ‚Ç£He is only 22 but he is suffering a little because he cannot find a regular first-team place.

‚Ç£Simone Inzaghi is in a similar position."

A move for Inzaghi could become necessary if the Viola's Portuguese striker Nuno Gomes leaves the club, as has been speculated. Gomes is reportedly homesick although these stories have been contradicted by rumours linking him with a move to The Premiership.

Mancini also had good news for his club's supporters concerned over the future of Rui Costa.

‚Ç£Cecchi Gori has told me that Rui Costa is not leaving,‚Ç¥ said Mancini.

Gori, the president of Fiorentina, has come under increasing pressure to resign from the club and his future it seems hangs in the balance alongside that of Rui Costa. The Fiorentina fans will not stand to see another idol exit their club just 12 months after Gabriel Batistuta left in search of honours at Serie A rivals Roma.

The Viola fans are a famously volatile mix and their so far relatively peaceful protests at the president`s handling of their club may not remain so if Rui Costa makes his widely predicted move to Milan.
