NEMEC EXTENDS SCHALKE CONTRACT
JIRI NEMEC has extended his contract with Schalke, putting an end to speculation over his future.
The 34-year-old midfielder has signed for another year with the Bundesliga side, but he then looks set to announce his retirement.
"The end of his working days is final after the 2001/2002 season," commented manager Rudi Assauer.
Nemec, capped 82 times by his country, has been with Schalke since 1993, after making his name in the Czech Republic.
The 1997 Czech Player of the Year previously starred for Ceske Budejovice, Dukla Prague and Sparta Prague.
